Rosetta Stone Chinese

After purchasing it, I found out that I have to study it with my computer, I cannot download to Mp3 format. To me, this is big problem to learn my Chinese as fast as I want it to be. I also don’t think it will be effective for those having no time with PC or cannot stick on their computer for long hours.

Rosetta Stone course has is a nice, gentle introduction to Chinese. I like its direct presentation and concept of Chinese language, without English text explaining the grammar, usage, and so on. However, according to many other users, it is a very good program if you know some basic Chinese. For most of mediocre-level learners, they prefer others courses instead of mastering the basic.

Lastly, the price for Rosetta Stone Chinese 1-3 is at $494 from Amazon.com. I personally feel that the value offered is not worth the price at all.

Pimsleur Chinese

The main concern to me is this program teaches Beijing version of Mandarin, which is not easy to commute with overseas Chinese or Chinese are not from Beijing. After my hard work with audio courses, my Shanghai clients couldn’t understand what I’m trying to tell them.

Pimsleur Chinese program is a very basic course. Going through the entire study for 3 sets, I think the most I learn is about a few hundreds vocabularies, that would be far from understanding many ordinary topics.

Look at the price carefully, it is ten times more that Rocket Chinese. Therefore, I strongly recommend Rocket Chinese, in terms of value and price.
